We all know that rice is very famous across the world, especially for the different varieties in which it can be cooked. I am a full time housewife and mother of two extremely sweet and loving sons aged six and one respectively. I have a hectic routine all day long and for me there is always something to do in the house at any given time, which means that I am also a very busy person. I relish several varieties of rice and given my large community in Delhi I often have unexpected guests and have to cook meals for them at short notice. There are times when some relatives come bang at lunch time and it is during such times that I often decide to cook Matar Pulao (Peas Biryani). I strongly believe that rice is the best option to cook at short notice because it is convenient to do so, it is quick and there are several varieties that can be cooked.

I have chosen to write about Matar Pulao (Peas Biryani) for this hub because the dish is very easy and convenient to cook. Additionally, I wish to give this benefit to readers of hub pages so that they too can make use of this option. It hardly takes 15-20 minutes if you follow the steps suggested by me. Lesser time is required to cook Matar Pulao (Peas Biryani) in a pressure cooker.

Recipe for three people:

Ingredients:

Rice 300 grams

Oil 50 ml

Peas 250 grams

Salt One teaspoon

Onion One, big size, fine chopped

Garam masala ¼ Tea spoon

Red Chilli Powder ¼ Tea spoon

Garlic & ginger Paste One tea spoon

Please follow this procedure very carefully and you can reduce or increase spices as per your preference:

First you need to soak the rice in water for ten minutes. Put oil in the pressure cooker and heat it for two minutes. Then put the chopped onions and fry for until light brown. Then add Garlic & ginger Paste and fry for two minutes. Add spices, salt, peas and fry for three minutes. Add soaked rice with 400ml water and close the cooker. Wait for the three whistles and then put the gas at minimum heat for two minutes. Now your Matar Pulao (Peas Biryani) is ready; you can remove the pressure cooker and serve to your guests with green chutnee made from coriander leaves. I guarantee that the dish is very delicious and you will relish it.
